Covering an extensive area of approximately 1.5 million hectares (3.7 million acres), the park encompasses a variety of ecosystems ranging from Andean highlands to lowland rainforests.
Recognized for its extraordinary biodiversity, Manu National Park is considered one of the most untouched natural areas in the world, making it an essential destination for nature lovers.
A 4-day tour in Manu provides visitors with an immersive experience in the rainforest, allowing them to explore its rich wildlife, flora, and indigenous culture.
Enter the Manu National Park in southeastern Peru and discover this natural wonder with your guide and small group. We will take care of all logistics so you can fully enjoy the experience without worrying about organizing accommodation, transportation, or meals along the way. Learn about the Quechua and Amazonian peoples as you visit the park, staying in Bambu Lodge and Saga De Oro Lodge, and explore the stunning Machu Wasi Lake.
We will kick off our adventure by departing from Cusco in our comfortable mini-van, ascending towards the charming folkloric town of Paucartambo. Along the way, we will stop to explore the pre-Incan funeral towers of Ninamarca, a site rich in history that connects us to the ancient cultures of the region.
As we continue our journey, we will enter the impressive cloud forest, a vibrant ecosystem filled with lush vegetation and stunning orchids. Here, we’ll embark on our first hike, giving us the chance to spot exotic birds, including the iconic Andean cock-of-the-rock (Rupicola peruviana), monkeys, and various bird species that inhabit this magical setting.
In the evening, we will arrive at Bambu Lodge, where you will be welcomed into a cozy typical ensuite room. Get ready to unwind and enjoy the warmth of nature surrounding us.
After enjoying a delicious breakfast at Bambu Lodge, we will board a bus headed to the port of Atalaya. From there, we will travel by motorboat to Saga de Oro Lodge, navigating the majestic Madre de Dios River for about 40 minutes. During the journey, you’ll have the chance to swim in the river and immerse yourself in its refreshing waters.
As we proceed, you will witness stunning landscapes all around and enjoy the warm climate of the tropical rainforest. In the afternoon, we’ll embark on an exciting hike to explore the jungle, spending a few hours trying to spot caimans (Caiman crocodiles), exotic birds, and medicinal plants that thrive in this rich biodiversity.
Finally, we will return to our lodge, where we will spend the night, surrounded by the tranquility of nature.
On this day, we will start our adventure with a morning walk, exploring the rich biodiversity of the jungle. As we move along, we will encounter towering trees, medicinal plants, and orchids, as well as some large mammals like tapirs.
In the afternoon, we will cross the river and walk for about 30 minutes to reach Machuwasi Lake. This beautiful spot is home to the largest rodent in the world—the capybara (Hydrochoerus)—along with caimans and various birds that inhabit the area.
As night falls, we will venture into the lush forest to spot typical amphibians, including frogs and toads, along with insects, bats, and snakes. We will spend the night in a typical lodge, where you will be accommodated in a comfortable ensuite room.
After enjoying a hearty breakfast, we will take a moment to pack our belongings and reflect on the wonderful experiences we had in Manu National Park.
As we prepare for our return, you might want to take one last look at the serene views of Machuwasi Lake, where the calm waters reflect the lushness of the jungle and the songs of birds bidding us farewell.
Once ready, we will board our mini-van for the journey back to Cusco. Along the way, we will have the opportunity to enjoy breathtaking views of the Andean landscapes, while sharing anecdotes from our adventure and taking a piece of the jungle in our hearts.
Upon arriving in Cusco, we will have collected unforgettable memories of the biodiversity, culture, and warmth of the communities that welcomed us. This experience not only connects us with nature but also brings us closer to the cultural roots of this amazing region of Peru.
